The objective of this project is to build a network of devices that can collect air quality data and GPS data to analyze air quality in Davis as well as construct air quality heat map of Davis. Furthermore. influence of traffics to air quality can be analyzed with these data. | |
Steps: 1. Set up the hardware. This step includes writing codes for air quality data and GPS data collection. This code should also automatically push local data to Google Drive when WIFI is available. This step also involves setting up air quality sensors. a GPS sensor and an antenna on a Raspberry Pi. 2. Install devices on Unitrans buses and volunteers’ bikes to collect data. Researchers will need to maintain close communications with Unitrans as well as volunteers to make sure devices are working correctly. This step should be repeated when necessary. 3. Manage data on Google Drive. 4. Perform preliminary analysis on collected data. With air quality data and GPS location. a heat map of pollution in Davis can be constructed. This step involves developing program that can generate and update the heat map. |
