Music Memory Scrapbook
Music often evokes memories and attempts at storytelling in individuals with Alzheimer’s Disease (AD). Caregivers and family members want ways to connect with the person with AD and to preserve their legacy. More broadly, people like to recall the memories they associate with specific songs.
The Music Memory Scrapbook (MMS) is an application that facilitates music playback and story capture. Integrated with the Spotify API, this application effectively provides an interface for textual (and possibly audio) annotations. Various views include a “scrapbook management” interface for organizing “music memory lane,” i.e. the collections (lifetime period chapters) of music and memories, a “search” interface for specifying criteria with which to search the Spotify catalog, an “annotation capture” interface for capturing the annotations, and a “playback” interface for playing a song and displaying associated text and audio (and ultimately photo) content.
1) App prototype (ideally for iPadOS, initially). This app should implement the views described above, along with sharing music memory scrapbook content (Spotify playlist and associated annotations), likely via a database backend. 2) Clearly and thoroughly documented source code maintained in a janatalab GitHub repository.
