Crowd Source Components
In the past few years, the library has deployed two different crowd source applications, LabelThis and Price The Vintage, that allow the public to help add structured information to parts of our existing digital catalogs. These applications used different backend solutions and different collection methodologies, and neither are particularly well-suited in moving forward a more general purpose set of tools for crowd-source applications. In addition, we are standardizing our digital asset system to provide a consistent API to deliver content to new applications. We are looking to redeploy our existing crowd-source applications using this back-end, and hopefully utilize a toolkit of general purpose components from which to build these applications.
Design general purpose components for development of crowd-sourced applications using the Library’s digital asset management system.
We are looking for insight into all aspects of this problem, including; user experience, common micro-tasks; trust models for anonymous users; data accuracy; and strategies for task selection, among other issues. Any aspect of the problem will be considered. We plan for any project results to be integrated into the libraries application development. We are committed to the maintenance of Javascript / Node applications. In addition, source material would come from our standard Linked Data Platform that we use as a basis for our digital asset management system.
