| Trail networks are enjoyed by both hikers and mountain bikers. However, the two groups often have difficulty sharing trails in a safe and enjoyable way. While some networks exist that either allow hikers or bikers, in most cases the trails must be enjoyed together. Hikers often feel unsafe with riders traveling at high speeds, often around blind corners. It’s a valid concern, injuries do happen. A phrase often called out by bikers to alert hikers, is “rider up!”. I am both a frequent hiker and biker myself. I familiar with the issue from both sides. I have an exciting app that could greatly aid this problem. Rider Up. An app that allows riders to broadcast their real-time location to hikers. The hiker running the app would be alerted to riders approaching, with their location and even time to arrival. There are many options to explore with how to communicate the info to the hiker. | |
