Project's details

Mobile app for collecting and visualizing data on diseased trees in an orchard
One of the key goals of epidemiological research is to identify the spatial dynamics of disease spread (Ben-Hamo et al. 2020). Studying spatial patterns of disease plants over time can provide us with information about infection patterns, dispersal processes and disease development as well as an insight into the interaction of biological, physical and environmental factors involved in shaping these processes.
The app will provide scouts, extension officers and researchers with a tool to visualize the extent and spatial pattern of diseased trees in an orchard. Using the app the scout will document the condition of each tree in the target orchard. The app will acquire the location of each tree, visualize the data and provide descriptive statistics that can be used to make specific and precise management decisions.
