MudPlanter: Design for a Self-Powered Growth Monitoring System
The student team has designed a self-monitoring and self-sustaining support system for plant-based growth designed to record the growth rate and provide watering based on soil and temperature specifications using the MudWatt “soil-to-electric” as a power source (https://www.magicalmicrobes.com/products/mudwatt-clean-energy-from-mud). Effectively channeling information into a predicted algorithm to produce an expected time of maturity for the plant ultimately.
The basic idea is that the MudWatt will provide power to a series of temperature, soil moisture, and proximity sensors, connected to a PSoC 6 board, executing and recording the information which is transmitted back to the user through some sort of smartphone device, built upon Google Flutter and Bluetooth Communication.
Powered by MudWatt sources Be able to record the height and girth of plants Provide data through Bluetooth communication Interfaced with a smartphone app, using Google Flutter base. Self-watering system based on soil moisture sensors using a DC motor pulley system |
|
The ideal team will have experience in app-based interfaces telegraphing information from external programs (such as PSoC 6 Creator) Knowledge of basic coding protocols and principles Knowledge of basic circuitry and board sensor address registers is a plus. |
