| Stebbins Cold Canyon Natural Reserve ( https://naturalreserves.ucdavis.edu/stebbins-cold-canyon ) is a UC Davis research and teaching site in the mountains approximately 30 minutes from campus. It is also the most popular hiking destination in the region, with more than 60,000 hikers per year. The reserve would like an app that enriches the experience of visitors to Stebbins, possibly including: trail maps and guides, plant and animal checklists and identification guides, and a link to Inaturalist ( https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/uc-davis-stebbins-cold-canyon-reserve ). Other ideas include observation points that could be triggered by GPS location or qr code that could be text, audio, or video. | |
| Students would have the opportunity to build, test, and launch the app for the public. IOS development is our priority, but if time allows or the group wanted to work in parallel, we would welcome duplicating it for the Android platform as well. | |
| • An updated iOS App with full content • An equivalent Android App ( desired, but not required ) • App’s source code clearly documented in Github | |
