Charlie Solar Rover | |
In our evolving technological society, it is crucial to expose the younger generations to STEAM. We are designing a kid-friendly way to get kids interested in our field. We will be implementing our ideas into a solar powered rover. This rover will have all of the hardware connected, leaving the kids to only put the pieces together. Kids will have an opportunity to build the rover and control it themselves using a bluetooth connected app. Building confidence in kids in the STEAM field will encourage them to pursue STEAM careers in the future.
An easy to build rover made from K’NEX that is powered by solar panels. The solar panels will be connected to charge a Li-po battery that will power the rover. We intend to implement an LCD screen to show the speed of the rover during operation. We hope to implement 2 DC motors that will be controlled through our main PSOC chip. The PSOC chip we will be using has bluetooth capabilities and can be programmed to control the motors. This can be done through an app where we can enter a hex value and based on whatever the value is will determine the direction. We plan on creating two PCB designs that will be the brains of the rover. |

An app that can connect to our chip using bluetooth to control the rover, moving it backwards, forwards, left, or right.
