Bluetooth anti-theft bike system
In Davis. the bike capital of the US. bike theft is a big issue. In addition to the usual lock. it would be interesting to explore smarter anti-theft systems. such as alarms.
Here. the idea would be to design a device that can be hidden inside the bike (e.g.. inside the handlebar. or inside the saddle bar) and that would emit an alarm if the bike is moved while the owner is not detected to be in the immediate area. The detection could be based on bluetooth pairing; if the owner is close enough. then their phone would pair with the device. and the bike would not be considered as stolen. Otherwise. a beeping alarm would start emitting sound louder and louder to deter the thief.
- One ultra low power embedded device powered by a battery. Equipped with bluetooth capabilities for connection with the owner. with gyroscopes to detect that the bike is being moved. and with an alarm that can emit loud beeping. - One smartphone app that can connect to the alarm device via bluetooth. |
|
- Embedded system design at hardware and software level - Mobile app development |
